1st Wedding Anniversary :D

It was our first wedding anniversary on the November 4th so we celebrated it by going to London. Most people like to go on holiday, away for a few days to escape 'home life', but we're a couple of home birds so a day out seemed like a better idea.

First, we visited the V&A, and it was wonderful. I'd been once, in 2009, but that was just to see a fashion exhibition so I hadn't explored other areas of the museum.

My favourite parts obviously, were the medieval sections which were mainly made up of religious art.

This was the highlight for me. A stained glass window from William of Wykeham's chapel at Winchester college:

We went to Westminster afterwards, to have a look around and visit our favourite Wetherspoons in London (haha). The three glasses of wine I had were lovely!

Clare Castle

Clare Castle, was first constructed in the 11th century by a Norman knight named Richard FitzGilbert. Eventually taking the town name as his family name, the de Clare's owned the castle for many centuries. By 1360 though, it'd gone to the Crown, and unfortunately by the sixteenth century was in disrepair.

The Inner Bailey;

The Motte (behind is the standard of de Clare)

We also had a wander around the country park, and discovered a disused station and railway line :)

It's our first wedding anniversary on friday so we're going to London!
